Pre-Summer Fun in Big Sur

The first week-end of May,  Brian, and I set out for some cocktailing, hiking, and camping fun in Big Sur.  Big Sur and the Las Ventanas Wilderness is some of the most beautiful country in California, if not the U.S.  People travel from far and wide to see this gorgeous landscape.  We took advantage of the short three-hour drive from SF and loaded up our trusty Toyota Highlander to spend some time in this beautiful place.

This tent was billed to fit six people. It's more like three but there was room for our air mattress and super-soft pillows.
Bought with Brian’s American Express points, this tent was billed to fit six people. It’s more like a three-person tent but there was room for our air mattress and super-soft pillows. (Both essential items for cocktail camping comfort.)

The view from our campsite. This campsite is in the “premium” area of the campground. Be sure reserve in this area of the campground as this is prettiest and quietest area of the park. You can reserve your spot at http://www.reserveamerica.com
The Andrew Molera State Park is just a short drive away from the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park with lots of wonderful hiking trails and a lovely beach.
The Andrew Molera State Park is just a short drive North from the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park with lots of wonderful hiking trails and a lovely beach. We did the 8-mile Molera State Park Loop, a gorgeous 4-hour hike past wildflowers, through a shady redwood grove, and out to the dramatic California coast line.  You can learn more about this hike in California Hiking.

I do love hiking! Nothing makes me happier than exploring a trail and appreciating the beauty within it.
